Orlando city made some statement in the transfer market with acquisition of former Manchester united winger, Luis Nani from Sporting Lisbon.

It is a welcome arrival, as Orlando just lost their best attacking midfielder, Yoshimar Yotun.

Nani made 30 appearances in the regular season for Orlando, starting 26 times.

He scored 12 goals and registered 10 assists across the season, making him the first player in the club’s history to achieve double digits in goals and assists in a single season.

He made three appearances in the cup starting two of the games, he didn’t get any goals in the cup but did come up with an assist against New York City FC.

The captain’s best game came against Colorado Rapids where they had to come back from behind twice to win 4-3. Nani had a game to remember as he scored twice and provided another assist for team mate.

Luis Nani finished the season with total of 12 goals and 10 assists. He did go through dry spell during the season, it is quite understandable considering the number of minutes he has played consecutively. It can be said he had a great debut season in the MLS. He was selected to represent Orlando City in the MLS all-star game.

He did set a few offensive records and most importantly, he did bring out the best of the players around him. His set piece delivery is top notch and was always a threat to either find the back of the net or thread the perfect ball to find a well-placed team mate.

Nani who joined Orlando from Sporting had his best spell with Manchester United. Where he won league titles and UEFA champions League with the Red Devils. He made 147 League appearances for the club scoring 25 goals.

He was part of the Portugal team that won The European Cup in 2016. He made 112 International appearances for Portugal and scored 25 goals.
