MAN UTD SUBMIT AUDACIOUS BID FOR BARCA STAR

According to latest reports from Spain, Manchester United have failed with a €100m bid for teenage sensation Ansu Fati. It was reported that Old Trafford had tabled a bid for the Spanish youngster, but it was promptly rejected by Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu.

It is evident like many other clubs that the Blaugrana are facing financial troubles with their bloated wage bill leading to friction between the players and club some months back. Although the players agreed to a 70% wage cut there are reports that the loss of finances due to the pandemic could lead to massive sales in the summer.

Earlier this month the board had suggested that the playing staff will take a second batch of wage to enable the club to manage their finances. Barca pay the highest wages to players in Europe, with Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann earning close to €80 million annually.

The likes of Phillipe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic and Ousmane Dembele have been touted as potential exits. Fati is regarded as the next big star from the La Masia stables and United were keen to secure his services.

According to Spanish tabloids, the player has informed super-agent Jorge Mendes of his wish to remain at Barcelona. Fati’s future appears to be secured at Barcelona for the foreseeable future and the board will do all they can to tie the teen star to a longer contract.

Former Manchester United winger Luis Nani has been left surprised with the huge bid his former side submitted for the youngster. Nani admitted that Fati has immense talent and he is destined for the top, but he believes the risk will be too much given the player is not even 17 yet.
