NANI LIKELY TO STAY AT VENEZIA

Portuguese winger Luis Nani will most likely stay at Italian team Venezia this season which means he would be playing in the second division when the new season starts. The former Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon star has never played in the second division throughout his professional career. Luis Nani signed for Venezia while they were in the Italian Serie A during the latest league season. However, he was unable to save them for relegation to the Italian Serie B, which is the second division in Italian club football.Venezia propped up the table at the end of the just finished Italian Serie A campaign.

Luis Nani said he signed for Venezia as a result of their ambitions. He made this known in his first interview as a Venezia player. The 35-year-old Portuguese international put pen to paper on an 18-month deal with Venezia until the end of the new season. With this in mind, he has a year left on his contract with the Italian club and he could spend it in the Italian Serie B unless he’s released from the contract or he signs for another team.

Nanisigned for Veneziaas a free agent on the back of his spell with Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Orlando City. He had previously played in the Italian top flight with capital club Lazio during the 2017/18 season. Nani was one of the stars at American side Orlando City where he had a return of 28 goals and 23 assists in 77 appearances.

Apart from Luis Nani, Venezia signed some players during the January transfer window, but it was not enough to save them dropping into the Italian Serie B. They signed Argentine international shot stopper Sergio Romero as a free agent in the same transfer window. Also, Ethan Ampadu (loan) and Michael Cuisance were signed.
